Martial arts is more than kicking, punching and conditioning. The true measure of a martial artist is in what they give back to those around them. At AKF Athens Martial Arts we take pride in community service and outreach, and we have numerous programs and events that are designed to help give back to our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens. From free or low-cost self defense seminars, to scholarships intended to bring the martial arts to those with financial need, to ongoing clinics and events designed to make martial arts more accessible to the general public, we are always working to make the world a better place. Our community outreach efforts include:
• Women’s Self Defense Seminars: Our onsite self-defense course is comprised of a hands-on six week course that teaches fundamental elements of practical self defense and situational awareness. The course is $30, with all profits going to support local women’s shelters.
• Martial Arts Mastery Clinics: Our highly successful series of Martial Arts Mastery Clinics features highly skilled instructors focusing on single elements of the arts. These Clinics are inexpensive to attend (only $25), open to everyone, and offer useful and interesting martial arts knowledge for both existing practitioners of the arts and interested members of the public.
• Open Houses/Free Workouts: We know that not everyone has the ability to attend a martial arts school full time, but that’s no reason not to come in, learn a little bit and get a free workout! We hold regular open houses where anyone can come in, tour the school, meet our staff and students, and have a fun, introductory level workout.
